Abstract
This is a story about a Sioux hunter treed by a grizzly bear. The grizzly bear starts to dig up the tree but the man manages to set the bear's fur on fire, killing it.
Description
The original manuscript of this story is in the Truman Michelson Collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Anthropological Archives. It was written by Young Bear sometime between 1911 and 1938. The version given here was transcribed, phonemicized, otherwise edited, and translated by Lucy Thomason.
