Abstract
This is a story about a man who is chased onto a frozen river by a grizzly bear. The grizzly bear is unable to keep its footing on the ice and the man shoots it, killing it.
Description
The original manuscript of this story is in the Truman Michelson Collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Anthropological Archives. It was written by Young Bear sometime between 1911 and 1938. The version given here was transcribed, phonemicized, otherwise edited, and translated by Lucy Thomason.
