Pitfall traps were run for three days in both June and July 2023 in reforestation plots at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). Traps captured 25 species of Coleoptera representing 10 families. Of the 25 species, nine were collected at SERC for the first time. Five species (1 Erotylidae, 4 Staphylinidae) are reported from Maryland for the first time. This brings the total number of beetle species documented at SERC to 966.
