dc.description.abstractA new species of Podiceps (Aves: Podicipedidae) is described from the early Pliocene Lee Creek marine deposits in North Carolina. The holotype is a femur. Referred material includes entire or partial femora (7), tarsometatarsi (5), coracoid (1), humeri (7), and ulna (1).
