two wildlife films in the Ancon Conference 
Room.

We will not have a noon seminar Tuesday, 
May 14. since the SYSTAT workshop is 
scheduled for this date. We anticipate 
that Dr. Madhav Gadgil will give an 
afternoon or evening seminar during the

May 6 - Arriving, HAL BLA CK, Brigham 
Young University with students from his 
tropical ecology course. They will be in 
Gamboa until May 26. 
May 8 Leaving, JIM KARR, to 
Champaign, Ulinois, for business at the 
University of illinois, and then on to D.C. 
for business at the Environmental 
Protection Agency. He will return to ST RI 
on May 19. 
Week of May 11 - 17: 
May 11 - Arriving, JON YELLIN, SI for a 
one week official visit. 
May 12 Arriving, MADHAV GADGIL, 
Indian Institute of Sciences , for a short 
visit with colleagues at ST RI.

Smithsonian Office of Information Resources 
Management, for SYST A T Workshop (see 
next column) and consultation with staff at 
the different facilities. 
May 12 - Leaving, ROSS ROBERTSON for 
Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea in French 
Polynesia, to look at sites for possible 
research, and to present a paper a t the 
5th International Congress on Coral Reefs. 
He will return around mid-June. 
May 13 Arriving, JOSEPH EWAN, 
Regents Fellow at the Smithsonian's 
National Museum of Natural History, for a 
brief visit of STRI facilities. He will be 
accompanied by Ms. Ewan.

SYSTAT is a statistical program package 
for use in the IB M personal computers. 
Un Tuesday, May 14, DA VE DA NCE will 
give a hands-on demonstration and explain 
the use of the newest version of SYSTAT 
in the Aneon Conference Room. For
