Holotypes are in the United States National Museumexcept as noted ; paratypes of all new species are in my collection ; andparatypes of most of the new species are also in the Gressitt Collectionin the California Academy of Sciences. Dates are abbreviated, as, forexample, V-7-32=May 7, 1932. 1. EUPIESTUS CHINENSIS, new speciesShining; head and thorax black, elytra and abdomen pitchy, theposterior margins of the tergites rufescent. Antennae black, the firstfour segments reddish. Head subtriangular, with two largefossae anteriorly and one at the middle of the base, and at the innermargin of the eye with a sulcus; with small rather close punctureslarger than in sculpticolUs. Antennae as in sculpticolUs, the secondand third segments of equal length, the fourth to tenth transverse.Thorax very slightly broader than long, the sides in front practicallyparallel, posteriorly strongly arcuately constricted, with eight fossaeas in sculpticolUs more coarsely punctured than in that species.
